Equity Statement and Scholarship Announcement
The SRF staff and Board of Directors acknowledge that access to the conservation and restoration field is not equitable, and that the resulting lack of diversity in higher education, nonprofit organizations, boards, and project teams is detrimental to the advancement of our goals.
We condemn racism in all forms, and we know that we have not focused enough on this issue. We invite our constituency to keep us accountable as we work to do better. We commit to examining and addressing structural racism within our organization and our own lives, and we are actively working to increase racial equity in all aspects of SRF.
As an initial step to reducing the financial barrier of entering this field, SRF is creating a scholarship fund to support students that are underrepresented in watershed restoration. We will release details on the scholarship and application process later this summer.
We also invite our constituency to join us in educating ourselves on systemic racism and the ways that it manifests in higher education, environmental organizations, and the sciences. We have curated a list of anti-racism resources that investigate specific concerns in the environmental sciences on our website, and will continue to add to it, to address additional issues regarding equity and inclusion. 2020 Virtual Spring-run Chinook Symposium
July 23-24
SRF is pleased to be partnering with the Salmon River Restoration Council to host a Virtual Spring-run Chinook Symposium on July 23 and 24, 2020. This symposium will consist of two partial days of presentations. Topics will include spring Chinook genetics, the impacts of climate change, local cultural knowledge, restoration projects, historical distribution and reintroduction. Although we'll miss gathering in person, we hope you'll join us for this event! The registration fee to attend both days of presentations is a suggested donation of $40. One-day registration and scholarships are available. Please click here for more information and a link to registration.
SRF Restoration Webinar Series

California Trout biologists Jacob Katz and Jacob Montgomery gave the second webinar of the series on June 26, with an overview of their floodplain projects to restore food webs in the Central Valley. A recording of the presentation and pdf copies of their slides are available on the SRF website.

2020 Coho Confab Cancelled Due to COVID-19
Due to COVID-19, SRF is unable to produce the Coho Confab in 2020. We are hoping to be able to produce this special event next year in the South Fork Eel River.

South Fork Eel River Low-Flow Monitoring Projects
SRF has been conducting low flow monitoring in Redwood Creek in the South Fork Eel watershed since 2013. Check out our website to see project resources, the low flow trajectory, and regular updates about this project. A flipbook series of site photos is also available for viewing.
SRF started low flow monitoring on Sproul Creek in 2019 and will continue to update that webpage this summer.
