SRF Fish Passage Design and Engineering Field School
February 19-21, 2025, Santa Barbara, CA
SRF is partnering with California Fish and Wildlife, Michael Love & Associates, and Ross Taylor & Associates to offer a hands-on Fish Passage Design and Engineering field school in Santa Barbara on February 19 - 21, 2025. The curriculum will cover aquatics species and stream crossings; channel morphology; pre-design and project layout; including geomorphic-based designs, profile control techniques, hydraulic designs using baffles and fishways, monitoring and adaptation strategies, and more. 
 
This course is limited to 35 participants and will likely sell out so please register early. Early bird registration ends January 31, 2025.

2025 SRF Conference Registration Now Open
Conference Registration is now open for the 42nd Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference that will take place from April 29-May 2 in Santa Cruz, California. All presentations will be in person. 
 

2025 SRF Conference - Call for Award Nominations
Due March 10, 2025
Please submit 200 words or more to nominate candidates for the illustrious Restorationist of the Year Award, the Golden Pipe Award for Innovation, the Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Gordon Becker Memorial River Advocate Award. Please find descriptions of the awards here
 
These awards will be presented at the 2025 Salmonid Restoration Conference Banquet. Nominations should be sent to lindsay@calsalmon.org by March 10, 2025. Please write "Award Nominations" in the subject line.

Register for the 2025 Poster Session
The Poster Session will be 7-10 pm on Thursday, May 1 at Cocoanut Grove, the main Conference venue. This annual event is open to all registered conference attendees and is a great venue to network with your peers.

SRF Conference Featured Workshop: California Estuarine Marine Protected Areas
California Estuarine Marine Protected Area (EMPA) Monitoring Program is an ongoing effort to assess the quality and condition of estuaries statewide.The purpose of the workshop is to increase statewide estuarine monitoring capacity by training SRF attendees in EMPA monitoring protocols, including field work, data management, and data analysis. The program is interested in increasing estuarine monitoring capacity along the North Coast, and the SRF conference provides a unique opportunity to bring together existing North Coast program partners with potential future program partners. SRF Conference Featured Tour: Butano Creek
During the Butano Creek: Threading the Needle to Accomplish Restoration at Scale Tour field tour participants will see examples of a range of restoration projects in the lower Pescadero watershed, including floodplain restoration, off-stream farm water storage, instream riparian habitat enhancement, and a dredge project that restored a stream channel and fish passage. Israel Family Fund Seeds Conference Scholarship Fund
SRF is thrilled that the Israel Family Fund is making a multi-year contribution to SRF's Conference scholarship fund. The SRF Conference in Santa Cruz will cost considerably more than other conferences. Please consider contributing to the conference scholarship fund so we can continue to offer scholarships to students, tribal members, and other young professionals. SRF will match each dollar contributed.

2025 Conference Mentorship Program
Sign up as a Mentor or Mentee by February 1, 2025
To welcome first-time attendees, students, young professionals, and people from historically underrepresented groups, SRF is continuing our mentorship program. Each Mentee will be matched with one Mentor. Through a series of brief one-on-one meetings before, during, and after the annual conference, Mentors will help Mentees make good use of their time at the conference, provide networking opportunities, share career advice, and perhaps even build lasting connections. The Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration grant program seeks to develop community capacity to sustain local natural resources for future generations by providing modest financial assistance to diverse local partnerships focused on improving water quality, watersheds, and the species and habitats they support. California Fish Passage Forum Funding Opportunity
Due February 7, 2025
The Forum is committed to investing in sometimes hard-to-fund aspects of fish passage and riparian health projects, including watershed and barrier assessment, research, monitoring, and evaluation. Learn more here.
