35th Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference Call for Proposals
The 35th Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference will be March 29 - April 1, 2017 in Davis, CA. SRF is now accepting proposals for concurrent sessions, field tours, and workshops.
Proposals should include the name and contact information for the proposed coordinator, a description of the session, field tour, or workshop and a list of potential collaborators or presenters. Field tour proposals should include a proposed itinerary and a description of types of restoration projects to be showcased as well as high-resolution photos.
Please send conference workshop, tour, and session proposals to abstracts@calsalmon.org by August 10.
The Call for Abstracts will be open from mid-August through October, 2016.
8th Spring-Run Chinook Symposium
Registration is still open for the 8th Spring-run Chinook Symposium on July 26-28, 2016 in Chico, CA. The year's Symposium will highlight regional status reports on Spring-run Chinook populations, instream flow studies and fish passage assessments, water conservation and transactions, and how to translate research and genetics into implementation and recovery actions. Oxford Suites has extended the group block for double rooms for $100 until July 13.
Field tours will include visits to the legendary spawning grounds in Upper Butte Creek and PG&E’s hydroelectric retrofit projects; salmon and steelhead fish passage in Lower, Deer, Mill and Antelope Creek that have been prioritized for instream flow enhancement and fish passage projects; a Clear Creek Spring Chinook Restoration tour; and a tour of Lower Butte Creek Water Diversions.

19th Annual Coho Confab
Registration is now open for the 19th Annual Coho Confab on August 26-28, Mendocino Coast. The 2016 Coho Confab will feature tours of large wood augmentation projects, fish passage projects, the Usal Redwood Forest, underwater fish identification, and other collaborative restoration projects.
This Confab will be at the beautiful Jug Handle Creek Farm on the Mendocino Coast. The advanced registration cost of the event is $200 which includes all meals, field tours, presentations, and camping.

Save the Date for the 2016 Steelhead Summit
SRF will host the 2nd Steelhead Summit October 27-28, 2016 in San Luis Obispo, CA. The agenda will highlight steelhead recovery planning, expanding coastal monitoring to the Central Coast, fish passage planning, water conservation efforts, and include regional status reports. The full-day symposium will be followed by field tours to restoration sites that highlight invasive species removal, erosion control, fish passage improvements, and water conservation projects.

SRF posted our 2016 Summer Newsletter online that includes full event descriptions of the upcoming 19th Coho Confab in Mendocino and the 8th Spring-run Chinook Symposium in Chico, CA. We also included comprehensive updates about our Redwood Creek, South Fork Eel River low flow monitoring efforts, and our Best Management Practices and water conservation efforts on the North Coast.
PSN and Application Released for WCB's Stream Flow Enhancement Program
The Water Conservation Board has released its Fiscal Year 2016-17 Proposition 1, California Stream Flow Enhancement Program (CSFEP) Proposal Solicitation Notice.
Proposals are due Wednesday, August 31, 2016, by 4:00 p.m
Trinity County BMP Workshop Video and Presentation Now Online
SRF, Pacific Watershed Associates, and Five Counties Salmonid Conservation Program hosted a Best Management Practices workshop and field tour in Trinity County on June 6, 2016.
Thanks to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and videographer Thomas Dunklin, we are able to share the video and powerpoints from this event.
BMP Checklist Brochure Now Online
SRF worked with the Mendocino Resource Conservation District to develop a Best Management Practices brochure that outlines BMP procedures and checklists including
1) Land self-assessment checklist
2) BMP checklist for various types of activities
3) Resources for BMPs with a list of federal, state, regional, and local agencies involved with water quality
4) A quick reference guide for permitting requirements
5) Water Diversion and Storage resources.

Salmon River Spring Chinook/Summer Steelhead Dives, July 26 - 27
The 20th Annual Salmon River fish dives will be based out of Forks of Salmon and all participants are required to register in advance. There is a limit of 80 divers, so please be sure to register early to ensure your spot.
