2018 Salmonid Restoration Conference First Call For Abstracts
The 36th Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference will be April 11-14, 2018 at the Fortuna River Lodge. Please visit our website to see the First Call for Abstracts and tentative conference agenda. You can also download the First Call in a PDF format.
Potential Field Tours include: 15 Years of Salmonid Habitat Restoration in Lower Klamath Tributaries; Lower Eel River Restoration, Flood Reduction, and Habitat Connectivity Tour; Headwaters to Tidewaters of Humboldt Bay; Large Wood Augmentation on Small Low-Risk Streams; Mattole Headwaters Instream work and Groundwater Recharge Projects; and Coho and Cows: Stories of Inclusive Restoration.
Potential Workshops include: Instream Flow; Effectiveness Monitoring of Instream Restoration Projects in California; Identifying Appropriate Site-Specific Methods and Target Criteria for Instream Large Wood Restoration Efforts in California; Using an Optimization Model to Select Fish Passage Barriers for Remediation; and Speaking of Science—Public Speaking Tips for Improved Science Communication

Please note that the agenda evolves and the 2nd Call for Abstracts may not include all of these potential sessions, workshops, and tours. Early submission helps SRF determine which sessions and workshops will be in the final agenda.
Presenter abstracts are due November 7, 2017.
SRF’s Call for Abstracts is highly competitive and not all abstracts can be accepted. Presentations that have not been given before at our conference will have priority, and we recommend submitting your abstract early for review.
To submit an abstract, please fill out this form, then email your abstract to abstracts@calsalmon.org. Please review our submission guidelines. Receipt of your submission will be acknowledged by email and forwarded to the correct session chair.
20th Annual Coho Confab in the Mattole August 24-26
Registration is still open for the 20th Annual Coho Confab in the scenic Mattole River valley in Humboldt County this August 24-26. SRF is coordinating this event in cooperation with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Mattole Restoration Council, Mattole Salmon Group, and Sanctuary Forest. The Confab will feature workshops focused on coho recovery strategies and BMP land stewardship practices for landowners
Field tours will include the Mattole estuary where participants will see off-channel slough, Heliwood placement, riparian restoration, forest and fuels reduction, water conservation, and stream bank stabilization projects. Tours will also include a tour of the Salt River estuary restoration, beaver dam analogues, and groundwater recharge planning projects in the Mattole headwaters. One-day registration is now available.

9th Spring-run Chinook Symposium Presentations Now Online
The 9th Spring-run Chinook symposium on the Salmon River was a great success. Selected presentations are available online.
WCB PSN Now Online
The Wildlife Conservation Board Proposal Solicitation Notice is now online. Final Proposals are due on August 31 for Streamflow Enhancement Proposals and September 15 for Public Access Proposals.
Redwood Creek Low Flow Monitoring Online
Thanks to the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, SRF is able to continue streamlined low flow monitoring in 2017. Please check out the graph on our Redwood Creek Monitoring page to see the bi-weekly flows of this tributary to the South Fork Eel River.

Take Action to Protect the Clean Water Rule
The Clean Water Rule is the bedrock legislation to protect water quality in our precious rivers. The 30-day comment period is open to submit comments on the EPA proposal to rescind and replace the Clean Water Rule.
