Salmonid Recovery in the San Lorenzo River Watershed: Water, Wood and Working with Neighbors

This tour will visit sites in the San Lorenzo River Watershed that showcase current salmonid recovery actions including lagoon and water management, stream wood enhancement and working within residential neighborhoods to preserve natural wood recruitment and enhance riparian corridors. The tour will include lunch at the beautiful Quail Hollow County Park.

9:00 – Welcome and participant introductions
9:15-9:25 – Tour and Watershed Overview
9:25-9:40 – Water Resources Management
9:40-10:00 – Working with streamside property owners on stream wood retention and riparian enhancement
Tour site visits:
10:45-11:30 – San Lorenzo Lagoon – steelhead monitoring, sandbar managing and flood control
11:30 – Drive up to Quail Hollow County Park
12:00-1:00 – Lunch at Quail Hollow County Park, Discussion of Santa Margarita Groundwater Management
1:15-2:30 - Upper Zayante Stream Wood Enhancement Project
2:45-3:00 – Felton Diversion and NMFS PIT tag reader
3:30-4:45 - Paradise Park Living along the San Lorenzo River: discuss flood control, natural wood recruitment and habitat evolution, and riparian corridor protection
4:45 – Drive back to Paradox
