Dry Creek Field Tour: Partnerships in Habitat Enhancement and Monitoring for Salmonid Recovery

27 March 2024
9:00am - 5:00pm
Field Tour Coordinators: Justin Smith and David Cuneo, Sonoma Water

This all-day tour featured salmonid habitat enhancement projects and monitoring programs on both private and public lands within the Dry Creek Basin. Sonoma Water highlighted enhancement strategies that address salmonid recovery and that provide resilient long-term solutions. Tour projects highlighted collaborative efforts guided by the Russian River Biological Opinion, and the Russian River Coho Salmon Captive Broodstock Program and that are implemented by Sonoma Water and the USACE. Project reaches are located on the mainstem of Dry Creek and includes engineered log jams, and off-channel and in-channel habitat enhancements. Since 2012, Sonoma Water and USACE have implemented projects in 17 enhancement reaches encompassing nearly 1,000,000 ft2over four (non-contiguous) miles stretching from just upstream of the confluence with the Russian River to Warm Springs Dam.
