Being Salmon, Being Human – the Performance

From Norway, three travellers will perform at the beautiful Phatsy Kline’s Lounge at the newly restored Inn at 2nd and C. These performers bring you a show from the heart. Torgeir Vassvik, a powerful world-renowned musician of the Coastal Sami of Sápmi, joins poet-philosopher Martin Lee Mueller, whose award-winning book Being Salmon, Being Human inspired this show. Together with Georgiana Keable, one of the first modern-day professional storytellers of our time, we tell this story — a story of the wonders of nature, and of the lies hidden on supermarket shelves.

SRF with the support of the Watershed Fund is excited to announce a Greywater workshop, installation, and book signing with greywater guru, Laura Allen. This event included presentations on the benefits and nuts and bolts of greywater installation, an overview of California’s plumbing code pertinent to greywater applications, and Humboldt County’s greywater policy. A demonstration project gave participants a hands-on opportunity to learn about the design elements, plumbing requirements, layout, and actually install a greywater system.

Salmonid Restoration Federation, Sanctuary Forest, Cal Trout, and Trout Unlimited hosted an exciting Water Conservation workshop on Friday, January 13 from 1 - 5 pm at the Fortuna River Lodge. Topics covered included community water conservation programs, water rights, greywater installation, and building resilience for salmon recovery.
