A full-day tour of Willow Creek
Willow Creek is a relatively unique example of a valley wetland stream complex providing rich salmonid habitat that gives us a glimpse of historically common terrestrial conditions. This field tour will include visiting fish monitoring sites, exploring the riparian jungle, and a data presentation. Other tours will highlight sediment reduction and small dam removal projects. The Confab will also include a Water Rights Forum. SRF will be posting the Confab agenda in early June.
Emergency Water Tank Program Still in Effect
While Governor Brown's Drought Emergency Declaration is still in effect, a streamlined Emergency Water Storage Tank Registration Program is in place for landowners who meet certain criteria.
California water law requires all people diverting surface waters (from springs, streams, and rivers) to register their diversion(s) with the State Water Resources Control Board. Additionally, if a resident is interested in conserving water through the storage and forbearance method (i.e. storing water during the winter season for use during the dry summer months when streamflows are at their lowest levels), they are required by law to file for an appropriative water right.
As California’s drought continues, this streamlined registration option remains active on the North Coast. Read this brochure to learn more.
