42nd Annual Salmonid Restoration Conference FAQs

What are the lodging options for the Conference?
Hotel Paradox is where the workshops will be held on April 29 - 30, 2025. Tours will depart across the street from the Hotel Paradox at the Resource Center for Nonviolence. The Courtyard by Marriott is walking distance to the Cocoanut Grove where the main conference days will be held from May 1 - 2, 2025. Both are excellent options.
 
The Hotel Paradox is at 611 Ocean St and is offering the federal per diem rate of $143 + tax. Parking is an additional fee of $10 per day. Here is the group block reservation link. The discounted reservation deadline is Friday, March 28, 2025.
 
The Courtyard by Marriott is at 313 Riverside Avenue and is offering the federal per diem rate of $139 + tax. Valet Parking is an additional fee of $25 per day. See options here. Here is the group block reservation link. The discounted reservation deadline is Monday, March 10, 2025.
 
The Dream Inn is at 175 W Cliff Dr and is offering rates of $239 + tax for Monday through Thursday and $359 + tax for Friday and Saturday. The Self-Parking option is complimentary. Call 844-291-9681 to make a reservation. You will need to mention the group name 'Salmonid Restoration Federation' before make your room selection.
 
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Santa Cruz is at 550 2nd St and is offering rates of $179-189 + tax for Monday through Thursday and $249-259 + tax for Friday and Saturday. Parking is $20/night. Call 817-453-5040 to make a reservation under the group block 'Salmonid Restoration Federation' or by using this reservation link. The discounted reservation deadline is Thursday, March 27, 2025.
 
The Santa Cruz Hostel is located at 321 Main St and is only a 7-minute walk from the main Conference venue. Rooms are affordable and will go quickly here. Call 831-423-8304 or visit their website to make a reservation. Please note, there is not a special code or a group name for this location.

How do I sign up for the Conference poster session?
Please use the poster session form to register for the 2025 Poster Session that will be Thursday, May 1 at the conference venue. Please fill out the form by Monday, April 14, 2025. SRF encourages posters, pamphlet distribution, software exhibits, and multimedia (video) presentations. SRF recommends wall posters be no larger than 3' x 4' and be light enough to be supported by blue tape (no tacks or duct tape). There will also be space for free-standing posters for tabletop display like trifold or propped up foam core. SRF can provide a limited number of stands for mounted posters. You must be registered to attend the conference to attend the poster session.
How do I apply for the Conference Scholarship?
Thanks to the generous contributions from members and co-sponsors, SRF is able to offer conference scholarships (conference registration fee waiver) opportunities this year. Scholarships are specifically for underrepresented members of the watershed restoration field, tribal members, students, and rural landowners.
 
To apply for a scholarship, please fill out this form which includes a 200-word explanation of why you would like to attend the SRF Conference, how it would benefit the work / studies you are doing, and how you anticipate applying what you learn.
 
Please note that you do not need to register in advance to apply for a scholarship. If you have any questions, feel free to contact info@calsalmon.org.
 
In order to allow time for travel planning, scholarship requests are due on February 14, 2024 and SRF will be in touch with scholarship recipients by February 21.
 
How do I sign up for the 2025 Mentorship Program?
Sign up as a Mentor or Mentee!
 
Please fill out this interest form, to provide your contact information, topical interests, geographic location, and write comments or questions. Everyone who registers for the 2025 conference will also be invited to participate in the program, but early sign-ups get priority if capacity limits are reached. SRF will match Mentors and Mentees in March 2025. Questions can also be emailed to info@calsalmon.org
How do I donate to the Conference Scholarship Fund?

You can make a tax deductible donation here to the conference scholarship fund that will enable tribal members, underrepresented fisheries students, and rural landowners to attend the premier salmon restoration conference in California.

How do I nominate someone for an award?
Please submit 200 words or more to nominate candidates for the illustrious Nat Bingham Memorial Restorationist of the Year Award, the Golden Pipe Award for Innovation, the Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Gordon Becker Memorial River Advocate Award. Please find descriptions of the awards page. 
 
All of these awards will be presented at the 2025 Salmonid Restoration Conference.

What is the timeline for session proposals and abstract submissions?
The call for session, workshop, and field tour proposals goes out in July and closes in August before the conference. 
 
 The Call for Proposals is now closed.
 
The Second Call for Abstracts closed November 18, 2024.

What COVID protocols will SRF be taking at the SRF Conference?

SRF will follow all CDC and Santa Cruz County public health COVID precautions and recommendations COVID. SRF recommends that all conference participants get tested prior to traveling to the conference.

What is the conference refund policy?
There will not be refunds for the 2025 Conference but registration fees can be transferred to another person in advance of the conference or registration fees can be deferred to 2026. Exceptions will be made for health-related concerns, especially COVID, and will be refunded after the conference or upon a communicated registration transfer to a coworker.
